After leaving X, I tried both Mastodon and Bluesky.
Mastodon: real federation, no algorithm, niche but quality. The onboarding (choosing an instance) is genuinely confusing for newcomers.
Bluesky: smoother UX, faster growth, but still controlled by one entity (Bluesky Social PBC) — not truly decentralized yet.
Which did you pick, and why? Has any of them actually become your daily social network, or do you keep coming back to the mainstream?
